FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Medical device manufacturers are under increasing pressure to bring innovative products to market while navigating evolving regulatory expectations, compressed development timelines, and growing technical complexity. Yet many still face the same challenge when working with testing partners: the expertise needed to make critical decisions is often separated from the customer experience.

Instead of collaborating directly with technical specialists, manufacturers frequently navigate multiple handoffs between sales representatives, consultants, project managers, laboratory personnel, and subject matter experts before receiving the guidance they need. These disconnected processes can slow decision-making, create unnecessary inefficiencies, and leave companies searching for answers when time matters most.

Canyon Labs is investing in a different approach.

As the company continues to grow, Canyon Labs has expanded its leadership team with the addition of Ben Trombold as Executive Vice President of Commercial and Dan Floyd as Senior Director of Commercial Science. Together, these strategic additions strengthen Canyon Labs’ commitment to providing customers with direct access to experienced commercial leaders and scientific experts throughout the product development lifecycle.

Rather than simply growing its team, Canyon Labs is building a model where technical expertise and customer engagement work side by side—giving manufacturers faster answers, stronger guidance, and greater confidence as they navigate increasingly complex validation and regulatory challenges.

Ben Trombold will lead Canyon Labs’ commercial organization, helping create greater consistency across business units while strengthening customer engagement and aligning customer needs with operational execution. His role reflects the company’s belief that exceptional customer service begins long before laboratory testing starts.

That customer-first philosophy was one of the primary reasons Trombold chose to join Canyon Labs.

“From my first conversations with the team, it was clear that Canyon Labs is building something special,” said Ben Trombold, Executive Vice President of Commercial. “What has impressed me most is the quality of the people across the organization. Talented professionals who are deeply committed to serving customers, supporting one another, and delivering exceptional results.”

For Trombold, those qualities extend beyond technical expertise.

“I’ve been especially inspired by Sarah’s servant leadership style, her empathy, responsiveness, and unwavering focus on people, and I’ve found those same qualities reflected throughout the leadership team,” he said. “The culture here is built on accountability, collaboration, and genuine care for both customers and employees. I’m excited to join such an outstanding team and help accelerate Canyon’s continued growth and impact across the industry.”

That commitment to combining scientific excellence with an exceptional customer experience also attracted one of the medical device industry’s most respected sterilization experts.

Dan Floyd joins Canyon Labs as Senior Director of Commercial Science, bringing more than 33 years of experience in sterilization science, validation, and regulatory strategy. His expertise spans ethylene oxide (EO), radiation, vaporized hydrogen peroxide (VHP), steam, dry heat, and emerging sterilization modalities, as well as leadership roles within AAMI and participation in ISO standards development. Throughout his career, Floyd has helped manufacturers solve some of the industry’s most complex sterilization and validation challenges while contributing to the standards that continue to shape the medical device industry.

For Floyd, the opportunity wasn’t simply about joining another testing laboratory—it was about joining a company where scientific expertise is readily accessible to customers when they need it most.

“I am so excited to join Canyon Labs because it represents the perfect combination of scientific excellence and customer-focused partnerships,” said Dan Floyd, Senior Director of Commercial Science. “Throughout my career, I have been passionate about applying sound science to solve complex challenges in medical device, pharmaceutical, microbiology, and package testing.”

That balance between technical rigor and customer partnership is what Floyd believes sets Canyon Labs apart.

“Canyon Labs provided the opportunity to work with a team that values technical rigor but really puts an emphasis on delivering exceptional service to customers,” he said. “That is unfortunately a rare combination these days, and I am grateful to be part of the team that places so much value on the customer and understanding their needs and challenges.”

As medical device technologies continue to evolve, manufacturers increasingly need partners who can do more than perform laboratory testing. They need experienced professionals who can help interpret evolving regulatory expectations, develop effective validation strategies, and provide practical scientific guidance throughout the product lifecycle.

These strategic investments reflect Canyon Labs’ vision of Raising the Standard by combining world-class scientific expertise with exceptional customer service. By bringing commercial leadership, scientific experts, and laboratory operations closer together, Canyon Labs is creating a more collaborative model that gives manufacturers direct access to the knowledge they need to make informed decisions and move products to market with confidence.

The result is a fundamentally different customer experience—one where expertise is accessible, communication is seamless, and customers work alongside trusted specialists from initial planning through final reporting.

As Canyon Labs continues to grow, the company remains committed to investing ahead of industry needs, strengthening both its scientific capabilities and customer experience to support the next generation of medical device innovation.
